The School
The main school building consists of 2 classrooms -the ‘big’ room and the ‘small’ room, SET room, staff room, the office, and toilet facilities. Our new extension was completed in 2023, doubling the size of the school’s footprint and adding greatly to our facilities.
Boston school is one of the few schools that is lucky to be situated in the Burren. The children here in Boston have the opportunity to observe the rare flora of the Burren on their doorstep.
School Origins
Boston National School, situated in the townland of Drumnadeevna has been educating children in the current school building since 1873.
There is evidence showing that education dates back to the mid 19th century. Prior to that, children were educated in four local hedge schools.
In October 2013 the school celebrated it’s 140th anniversary.
In May 2024 we held a belated 150th anniversary celebration to coincide with the grand opening of the new extension.
